Guy Carpenter lands Aon aviation reinsurance duo Nevard and Keegan
Senior London market aviation reinsurance brokers Russell Nevard and Barry Keegan have departed Aon for rival Guy Carpenter, The Insurer can reveal.
Nevard most recently served as chief operating officer for global reinsurance specialty at Aon, having joined the then Aon Benfield in 2015 from Willis Re Aerospace, where he was managing director.
Keegan joined Aon’s reinsurance broking business shortly after, tendering his resignation from JLT Re in April 2016.
The news comes just one day after Guy Carpenter announced that Julian Enoizi has assumed the role of CEO of Europe.
Replacing Dorothée Mélis-Moutafis, who had occupied the role on an interim basis since April, Enoizi will be responsible for spearheading Guy Carpenter’s broking operations across its European offices.
The former Pool Re CEO will also continue in his role as global head of Guy Carpenter’s public sector practice until a successor is appointed.
The swoop by Guy Carpenter on rival Aon also forms part of a wider carousel of aviation talent across brokers and carriers on both the primary and reinsurance side.
Several firms have looked to restructure their aviation and aerospace teams with promotions and new hires, with Canopius launching an aviation reinsurance business led by Axis Capital’s Richard Hartley as head of aviation treaty, London.
Elsewhere, in July this publication revealed that AIG had promoted Mark Sperring to global head of aerospace following the departure of Steve Eccles earlier in the year.
Aviation reinsurance rates have soared in response to the spiralling Boeing loss and uncertainty relating to the Russian aviation lessor disputes.
