Bank of England warns on cat modelling ‘gaps’ and reinsurance hardening impact

The Bank of England has called on insurers to bolster their cyber and natural catastrophe risk modelling capabilities in preparation for a period of “high volatility and uncertainty”, warning that the sector’s “material dependence” on reinsurance may drive more retained losses in a hardening retro market.
